This doll is a putsqatihu (flat doll) and only carved on one side.

Mongwu is a Great-Horned Owl who appears singly with the mixed katsina group. Mongwu plays a significant role bringing the Whipper Katsinam to punish the clowns during the summer katsina day dances. The Mongwu plays the role of a sorcerer, jointly planning with the chief clown, in secrecy, the punishment attack of the clowns.
